Troubled times are here to stay.
But at least I made one friend today.
Girls rush by, go on their way.
But at least I made one friend today.
Air hangs stale as the crickets play.
But at least I made one friend today.
See the real me that lost my way.

But at least I made one friend today.
Wondering aloud will come what may.
But at least I made one friend today.
Arm’s length can’t hold the blues at bay.
But at least I made one friend today.
I don’t have anything new to say.
But at least I made one friend today.

That lonely road leading on to somewhere
Beckoning one to follow, two to ponder
Moments lost in thought, quick to awaken
The coming of night, the departure of daytime
A young bird glides through the evening sky
Silence claims the landscape once more
